Abstract

This paper examines the personal names of Visigothic origin found on the slate tablet no. 39 from Diego Álvaro, Ávila. The Visigothic slates are unique documents from the 6th and 7th centuries in Visigothic Hispania, as they contain highly valuable information about that historical period. These inscriptions contribute to the study of the social and economic reality of the time, as well as the evolution of the Latin language during that period. However, despite containing numerous names of Visigothic origin, there are few onomastic studies of them. The aim of this article is the study of the etymological, phonological and morphological analysis of these names - Eunandi, Argeredi, Ra[...]ri, Vvidericus, Argiuindi, Gundaci and Lolus - and their contextualisation within the framework of the other Eastern Germanic varieties of those centuries.
