Resumen: El presente trabajo está dedicado al análisis de la organización territorial del asentamiento medieval de Castro el Viejo, una pequeña aldea y fortificación situada en la campiña suroriental de la actual provincia de Córdoba (cerca de las poblaciones de Baena y Castro del Río) que se mantuvo habitada entre los siglos XIII y XVI. En primer término, se revisan las investigaciones llevadas a cabo sobre este asentamiento, hoy conocido como Torreparedones, durante las últimas décadas. A continuación, se estudia su inserción, como recinto fortificado, en la red castral de la frontera castellano-nazarí del sur de Córdoba. Por último, se examina la organización de su término jurisdiccional y los principales núcleos habitados de su entorno.

Abstract: The present work is related with the analysis of the territorial organization of medieval settlement of Castro el Viejo, a small hill-top village and castle set in the southeastern countryside of the present province of Córdoba (near the villages of Baena and Castro del Río) which remained inhabited between the 13th and 16th centuries. First, it reviews the research conducted on this settlement, actually known as Torreparedones, during the last decades. Then, it studies their integration as fortification in the fortified net of Castilian-nasri border in southern Córdoba. Finally, it examines the organization of the jurisdictional term and major inhabited sites of their environment.
