Antigüedades romanas de Santaella (Córdoba), a partir de los datos contenidos en una carta del siglo XVIII

Abstract

In this paper the authors analyze a letter by the erudite from Ronda Juan María de Rivera, dated in 1760, in which he offers information about somes archaeological objects that, possibly, come from the surroundings of the cordoban village of Santaella. In addition in the letter one provides data, logically confuse, on the archaeologic context of the pieces, perhaps a domus or villa. Besides to studying briefly the mentioned pieces, between which is outstanding a herma that would be a representation of Baco, are offered data on the cultural scene in which is placed the letter in relationship to the activities of the scholars and antiquarians of the time as well as on the works of reference that were using by them mainly the related to the numismatics.
