Abstract

Present paper is a synthesis of previous archaeological research conducted between 1983 and 1988 in Seville, the roman colony of Iulia Romula Hispalis. Imperial town is considered as the urban climax of a process started with the republican town overlapping former archaeological sites dated, at least, as from the 8th century B.C. The final approach on imperial citywall outline and the definition or foman town planning is based on a methodological essay held by archaeological excavations, contextualization of hazard finds, and a conscious study of present urban topography and morphology focussed under a urban archaeological project as a whole.
