Abstract

Besides the sanctuaries dedicated to Melqart in the Iberian Peninsule, among them the one of Gades got a special fame in the Antiquity, there were in Hispania a number of temples of new fundation consacrated to Hercules as classical god. The dedications of two of them are still conserved nowadays: the ones form Osqua and the camp of Petauonium. We may deduce the existance of some others scattered all over the Peninsule, from signs like the accumulation of inscriptions is some towns, the dedications to priests or archaeological remains in that way. However, their material aspect is unknown.
