Abstract

In this paper, we analyze the building techniques in Roman villas excavated in Andalucia, a subject wich has never been studied in depth in spite of its relevance. Roman villas are, over other aspects, architectural ensembles. We study wall-making, pavements an other elements, a we put forward to a typological clasification for them. Our main conclusions are the great variety of building techniques employed, and the absolute predominance of the stone masonry in all its forms, due, in our opinion, to the geological background of me whole zone.
