Abstract

In 2001, an article entitled “las mezquitas de barrio en Córdoba: estado de la cuestión y nueva líneas de investigación” was published in this same journal. It has been, so far, almost the only existing reference to approach the issue. The update of the subject had to wait about 15 years and has recently seen the light through our Doctoral Thesis, called “Las mezquitas de Córdoba: concepto, tipología y función urbana”. This article aims to provide an overview about it and the advances that it brings for the knowledge of urban religious spaces in al-Andalus, focusing on Cordoba.
