Abstract

With this work we intend to provide a new type of cremation urns first discovered in a necropolis linked to the area of influence of the Roman city of Singilia Barba (Antequera, Málaga). The necropolis is linked to the Roman town of El Batan, whose excavation allowed characterizing a new production of olive oil. The villa, near to the Guadalhorce River, was in operation from mid-first century AD to the fifth century. Novelty of these urns we now present is not in its morphology, it lies in the material with which they were made, modeling gypsum.
