Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine, from the cases confirmed in the Provincia Tarraconensis, the different behaviour and rituals which were developed in connection with the premature death in the Roman World. How a series of categories were defined by the age of death (stillborns, perinatal death and infants, including youths deceased before marriage and women who died in childbirth) which determine from the burial’s ritual to the mourning. And why, because of their lower status, generated by the immature dead, their funeral followed different guidelines from the rest of the people.
