Abstract

The period between the 3rd and 1st centuries BCE suffers generally from poor archaeological documentation. The materials from necropoleis of this time raise various theoretical questions, as they are associated with the transitional phase between the Iberian and Roman worlds. This article analyzes some of the reasons contributing to the difficulty of the study of funerary contexts from this period, and the changes in funerary rituals that resulted from Roman colonization, using the specific example of the necropolis of Castulo (Linares, Jaén).
