Abstract
Tomando como base el expediente inquisitorial de Joseph Georgerini, este estudio pretende mostrar la peripecia vital del personaje y el choque entre el catolicismo occidental y el griego. Dividido en tres partes siguiendo el orden del documento, la primera de ellas analiza cómo fue recibido y los recelos que despertó a su llegada a Buenos Aires. En la segunda, se centra en los intentos del arzobispo por asentarse en España y hacerse un hueco en la jerarquía eclesiástica. Y finaliza con el recorrido que hizo Georgerini por la Europa dividida de finales del siglo xvii, desde que salió de Samos hasta que recaló en España.
