A controversial passage in the Annals of Eutichius of Alexandria. The Jewish attack against the city of Tyre
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the Annals composed by the Patriarch Eutychius of Alexandria there are some original passages, which are not in others sources, and some scholars have dismissed their plausibility. However, we must consider the historical context in which the author lived, in contact with Muslims and Jews. An example of this is the story about the attack of the Jews against the Phoenician city of Tyre during the Roman-Persian war (603-628), almost fantastical. However the perspective changes when this episode is compared with the apocalyptical texts of the Hebrew tradition.
