Non Muslim organization in the Otoman Empire: millet and taifa

Abstract
The traditional organization of the Non Muslim communities in the Ottoman Empire was changed during Tanzimat period due to starting up of a new model known as millet. Faced with the traditional theory that traces the origin of this millet system to the time of the conquest of Constantinople, this article focuses on the origin and the reasons for this innovation, as well as real organization model followed by Christians and Jews in the Arab provinces of that Empire.
