Ecumenism and Geostrategy. From friar Guillaume Adam to St. Francis Xavier
Main Article Content
Abstract
We offer in this paper a survey of how the Dominican Guillaume Adam was fascinated by the idea of merging Catholics and Nestorians (inhabitants of Soqotra and India) in 14th century, and the Jesuit Francis Xavier in 16th century as well. However, from this Christian ecumenism arose a military impulse in both cases: the struggle against the common enemy, Islam. Same causes were answered by similar results under the same geostrategic idea.
