Abstract
This article focuses on the cultural and religious devices that achieved the survival of some elements of the old popular pagan piety in Christian Egypt, a vantage point for relevantly scrutinizing the topic in many aspects, not only for the excellent sources of infomation preserved, but also for the social cohabitation that pagans and christians maintained in Egypt for a long time in rather particular situations and conditions.
