A Messiah in the Rabbinical writings: From the “Messiah’s days” to the Messiah with characteristics and proper names

Abstract

We attempt to approach in this paper the characteristics of Messiah in Rabbinical literature, starting from the expression in the “Messiah’s days” till a further deep characterization. Rabbinical testimonies reveal contradictory opinions, not only because of religious questions, but also of political ones. These opinions raise the image of a more complex Messiah , who is identified with a name and a particular lineage.
