Liber Iob detractus apud Sin. Ar. 1. Notes on the Syriac Vorlage of a Christian Arabic manuscript (9th CE.)

Abstract

The fragmented text of the Book of Job which appears in the Sinaiticus Arabicus 1 is the sequel of another handwritten fragment, ar. 1475 (= Add. 16116) of the British Library, that goes together with the former in the same version. This Arabic translation seems to have been done from the Syro-hexaplar version. It is shown here that the translator has also made use of other Syriac versions.
