Miracles and Visions at the Monastery of St. Symeon the Younger near Antioch

Abstract
This article will consider and translate into English two 11th-century texts written and preserved in manuscripts from St. Symeon the Younger’s Monastery west of Antioch: a previously unknown Arabic miracle text, which is also edited here for the first time, and a Greek apocalyptic text that was recently edited and translated into French.[1] In so doing, it will also seek to contextualize the production of these texts and manuscripts at the rich scholarly center and monastic library at St. Symeon, demonstrating the remarkable wealth of extant evidence, largely preserved at St. Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai, from this long-since defunct Syrian monastery.
