Abstract

The study aims to present a sociolinguistic approach to the “masculine” way of talk of Moroccan women. The data corresponds to 3h. 39 min. recorded in two different settings: the first one is an interview of a rural woman (around 45 years), the second presents young urban girls (17 to 20 years). All the informants (6) live in Meknes or in a village near Meknes. The masculine way of talk obeys to two different strategies: as for the rural woman, it is vital to talk like a man because of the rudeness of the environment she works in. The young informants show off their masculine way of talk like a trendy group practice.
