The mon. A brief history of the japanese heraldry

Abstract

Except for Dr. Stephen Turnbull, professor in Leeds, and recent national studies carried out by Marcos Sala Ivars, the knowledge on the mon is deeply careless in the western culture. This article pretends to be a beginning to comprise the historical process of this japanese emblem. Also a study will be done on the evolution and permanence of the mon in a society as complex as the Japanese one is.
