The moriscos in the Christian Religious Imaginary: between Torre Turpiana and the Sagradas Formas of Alcalá
Main Article Content
Abstract
From the Rebellion of Alpujarras, the Morisco community is installed in the Christian popular imaginary as a demon to be removed. One of these demoniac ways was that of a falsifier of sacred history, a violator of religious temples, a destroyer of churches and a thief of relics. In order to manipulate the vulgar devotion and attract more enthusiasm, the religious authorities ships took advantage of this image and invented many Eucharistic miracles against the moorish demon.
