Abstract

The first half of the 17th century is a key period in the process of configuration and adaptation of the social elites of the Kingdom of Granada, emerged after the repopulation ordered by Philip II. In this context, the present paper focus on the municipal oligarchy of Granada, analysing their main patrimonial and economical strategies. Around them, and thanks to a large study of cases, we examinate the importance of family conflicts and his role as factor of social promotion.
