Abstract
The aim of this paper is to study the sale of jurisdictions of the Order of Santiago
in the Kingdom of Jaén (Spain) during the 16th Century. Towns and villages were
disentailed from the Order, and its manors were sold by the Habsburg. We use documentary
sources located in the General Archive of Simancas, National Historical Archive, General
Archive of Andalucía and Real Chancillería of Granada.
