First carlism in the province of Cordoba (1833 - 1840): a proposal of socioeconomic interpretation
Main Article Content
Abstract
: Even though Andalusia was a region in which the first carlist war had a modest impact, the province of Cordoba was one of the focal points of the conflict. This research aims, by combining secondary and primary sources (worth noting the Boletin Oficial of the Province of Cordoba), at the synthesizes of the main relevant facts occurred in the region, as well as the ways of support received by carlism, as a previous step to gain an insight into its social base and the possible motivations that became the stimulus for politic action. For this, there has been prosopographic research of the socio-professional extraction of 41 carlists found in the sources as well as the characteristics, compared and contrasted in a long-term evolution thanks to Census of Floridablanca and the Dictionary of Pascual Madoz, of those regions with the most carlist agitation in the province that can contribute to the study of the support for carlism.
