Abstract

Music comes in various forms, styles, genres and sounds across all known cultures, both those that have disappeared over time and those that are still prevalent today. This is where ballroom comes in, a movement emerged in the United States in the second half of the 20th century, as a response to policies against the rights and existence of LGBTIQ+ people. The purpose of this research is to determine how, within this culture, music is used as an element that provides identity, cohesion, and meaning.
