Abstract

A summary is presented of the evolution of Tertiary plant fossil assemblages in the Iberian Peninsula. The relationships between Tertiary plants and the Late Cretaceous ones are pointed out, as are the changes in composition of Tertiary floras in Europe. A brief chronological account of the better known Iberian fossil floras is also provided with some final conclusions regarding vegetation in relation to the climatic evolution of Tertiary times.
