Abstract

A study of the flora of the Zujar River basin (Cordoba) is presented. 726 taxa, 27.7 % of Western Andalusia flora, are reported, belonging to 392 genera and 101 families. The most representative families were: Asteraceae, Fabaceae y Poaceae. The distribution of the species by chorological elements was also analysed, the most representative being Mediterranean (66.4 %), with a significant number of Iberian Endemics (5 %) and Iberian-Africans (8.6 %). Some species not present in other areas of Western Andalusia, or with a limited area of distribution in this part of the country and in Cordoba, are reported. Most of these species grow in two habitats very characteristic to the area: river banks or stream and the Santa Eufemia Mountains. Some of these species are endangered due to human disturbance.
