Abstract

As a result of the ethnobotanical research carried out in the province of Cordoba, it was necessary to establish an appropriate methodology given the short experience still existing in Spain in this field. A working method is proposed that can be applied to any ethnobotanical research, based mainly on the following phases: 1) study of the area from a geographical, historical, anthropological, agricultural and botanical point of view; 2) establishment of a codified system of uses; 3) bibliographical revision; 4) initiation of field work, after the selection of specific social sectors of the population and localities, and 5) data recording.
