Code of Conduct and Best Practices

Esferas Literarias adheres to the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers. In compliance with these guidelines, the journal is committed to ensuring the scientific quality of its publications and to safeguarding the interests of authors and readers. This Code applies to all parties involved in the publication and management process of the journal, including the editorial team, reviewers, and authors. Manuscripts that fail to comply with these ethical requirements will be rejected.

 

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Esferas Literarias does not publish articles that have been previously published elsewhere (with the exception of translations of works that are difficult to access). The journal also condemns plagiarism, fraud, and the reworking or paraphrasing of previous works, whether one's own or those of others. Its editorial policy guarantees originality through the use of the Turnitin plagiarism detection software. Any manuscript found to violate these principles will be rejected, and if such misconduct is detected in an already published article, the article will be removed from the journal’s website.

Authors who submit a wholly or partially plagiarized or self-plagiarized manuscript will not be allowed to submit a new article for a period of six years. Repeated offenses will result in permanent exclusion from publication in Esferas Literarias.

 

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

The editorial team of Esferas Literarias declares that its policy regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence in academic and scientific writing strictly follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

• AI tools cannot be listed as authors of publications in Esferas Literarias.
• Authors must disclose any use of AI in the section entitled “Funding or Acknowledgements,” specifying each and every task for which AI was employed.
• The use of AI tools for language editing purposes does not need to be declared, provided that they are used solely to improve readability, writing style, grammar, or spelling. While AI may assist in refining language, it must not be used to generate substantive content. Human authors remain fully responsible for ensuring that the final text is original.
• Reviewers of Esferas Literarias may not use AI during the manuscript review process, as doing so could jeopardize the intellectual property rights of authors.
• Esferas Literarias employs available tools for the detection of generative artificial intelligence.

Researchers are expected to adhere to these ethical guidelines in order to ensure transparency and integrity in scientific production.

 

Peer Review Process

Submitted manuscripts are sent confidentially and anonymously to two expert reviewers who are not members of the journal’s editorial board or editorial management team. Reviewers may belong to the Evaluation Committee, provided that they are not members of the Editorial Board.

The reviewers submit reports assessing the suitability of the manuscript for publication. These reports are considered by the Editorial Board Secretariat when making publication decisions. Authors are informed of the decision regarding publication or, where appropriate, of any revisions required.

If the two reviewers reach conflicting conclusions, the manuscript will be sent to a third reviewer. A revised manuscript may be accepted for publication subject to the incorporation of requested changes. Authors must submit the revised version within one month, regardless of whether the revisions are considered major or minor. If necessary, the revised manuscript may be returned to the external reviewers for further evaluation.

This process will continue until the manuscript receives final acceptance by the journal. Authors will receive the reviewers’ reports and may be required to make further corrections. If the manuscript is deemed publishable with only minor modifications, these changes may be implemented by the editorial team in consultation with the author, although the manuscript may also be returned to the author for the necessary adjustments.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries. This system enables libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.
