PROSTITUTION IN MODERN CORDOVA: HISTORIOGRAPHICAL BALANCE AND NEW CONTRIBUTIONS

Abstract

The object of this paper consists of a historical approach to Cordovan prostitution in the Modern Age. To this purpose, first of all, a review of specialized historiography and a historiographical balance. Secondly, we proceed to study the norm and reality by contrasting different documentary sources such as literary, legal, and historical ones, whose interpretation permits the elaboration of a reflection on the reality of prostitution, evidencing the situations of marginalization and exclusion suffered by Cordovan prostitutes.
