Abstract

Around the 50's or 60's front the last century, it was found two smalls fragments engraved of a Arabic headstone in Cañete de las Torres (Córdoba, south of Spain). The epitaphy probably belongs to the son of the Merinid sultan, Abü l-Hasan ‘Ali. His name was Abü ‘Amir ‘Abd Allah b. Hasan b. ‘Utman al-Asgar, Abdalla Aboamar in the Christian chronicles. As a consequence of this, we can date the gravestone in VIII hegira/XIV a.d. The epigraphy shows a very beauty cursive writing commonly in diwan al-insa’ of Fes (Morocco). However, it is extremely astonishing the place where it was found, the castle of Cañete de las Torres (hisn Qannut). There is no explanation for this fact.
