Abstract

In the upper Guadiato valley there are: monumental remains of roman water conduits without an associated settlement, pressurised water distribution systems in areas where no water supply systems are known, an inscription that mentions an urban aqueduct, and a historiographical debate on the location of the city of Mellaria, known only through the sources. In this paper we want to add to this debate with a thorough study of the hydraulic infrastructure and other material finds linked to water supply found in the possible territory of Mellaria.
