An acrostic soghitha by Isaac 'the Teacher' in Sinai Syr. 10

Abstract

The article provides an edition and translation of a soghitha attributed to 'Isaac the Teacher', to be found in Sinai Syriacus 10. In view of the large number of unpublished memre attributed to one or other of the three fifth- and sixth-century Syriac poets name Isaac, an Appendix provides an alphabetical list of the incipits of all memre attributed to an Isaac which are to be found in early manuscripts datable to the sixth and seventh centuries.
