Abstract

This article re-opens the discussion about the linguistic situation in the southernmost kingdom of Medieval Sudan, Alwa (or Alodia). The focal point is a graffito from Musawwarat es Sufra, an ancient site that later became part of Alwa. It is an eloquent testimony of the interest of the linguistic situation in this area.
