Feeling, Sincerity and Genius: the Romanticisation of Horace's Poetic Theory

Main Article Content

Fátima Rueda Giráldez

Abstract

Horace's poetic theory became compatible with the literary ideas developed between the late 18th century and the first half of the 19th century, as revealed by selected pieces of literary criticism published throughout Europe during this period. Their analysis offers an interpretation that has not been noticed until now and which links Horace to three of the most representative aspects of Romanticism: feeling, sincerity and genius.
