About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Insights on Bilingual Education is an international, open-access journal with an annual publication frequency. The journal aims to highlight research contributions from both established and early-career researchers. It focuses on Bilingual and Intercultural Education, covering the following areas of research:
- Implementation of bilingual programs
- The role of technology in the language teaching-learning process and in bilingual education
- Evaluation of the teaching-learning process in bilingual education
- Early introduction to second languages
- The role of play and toys in bilingual education
- Intercultural education
- Cooperative learning in bilingual education
- Methodological approaches in bilingual education
- Teacher training in bilingual education
To ensure originality and scientific quality, submitted articles undergo a double-blind peer review process, evaluated by at least two reviewers from the journal’s international network of experts in the field.
Publication Frequency
Insights on Bilingual Education accepts article submissions throughout the year, except in exceptional circumstances, which will be communicated in the Announcements section.
The journal publishes one issue per year and considers proposals for special issues.

Open Access Policy
This journal is published under an open-access model to provide the public with free access to research, facilitating the global exchange of knowledge.
All articles published in Insights on Bilingual Education are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution License.
Digital Archiving Policy
Through the Open Journal System (OJS), Insights on Bilingual Education employs an archiving system to ensure digital preservation.
The journal is part of the Public Knowledge Project’s Private LOCKSS Network (PKP-PLN), which creates a decentralized archiving system distributed among partner libraries. This network ensures the permanent preservation of the journal’s content and allows for content restoration if necessary. To achieve this, the PKP PN module is activated (https://docs.pkp.sfu.ca/pkp-pn/en/). The updated list of journals preserved in PKP-PLN can be accessed via the following link or by verifying the journal's archiving status in the ISSN portal.

Additionally, the University of Córdoba implements various processes to ensure permanent accessibility to digital objects stored on its servers:

- Monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate possible format or software migrations
- Digital preservation metadata
- Use of persistent identifiers: DOI and ORCID
Interoperability Protocols
This journal provides an OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface, enabling external portals and information services to access the metadata of its published content.
