Pedagogical leadership in the management of Andalusian schools
Main Article Content
Abstract
The type of pedagogical leadership exercised by school management is identified as a key element that favors educational quality. Therefore, this study proposes to analyze the educational practices of the management team in relation to the type of pedagogical leadership in public schools in the autonomous community of Andalusia (Spain). A total of 90 teachers with management positions (46% women) with a range of 8-12 years of experience (51% of those interviewed) participated. Validated instruments of pedagogical leadership practices were used with school managers (VAL-ED and questionnaire of effective pedagogical leadership practices of school management). It was observed that the younger managers had better results in the three dimensions (ability to develop pedagogical leadership, sharing pedagogical responsibilities and considering leadership as an attractive choice) than the older ones, with the group under 49 years of age being the ones that stood out from the rest of the groups. The results of the study allow us to conclude that the culture of leadership has begun to change in the management of educational centers, driven by a generational change in which women are becoming more and more prominent in management positions
