Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

This journal publishes works from any branch of linguistics concerning the Spanish language, as detailed in the section on the scope and focus of this publication.

This journal accepts submissions in both Spanish and English.

For manuscript preparation, it is recommended, first and foremost, to use this template (in Spanish, in English) and to also adhere to the journal’s style guidelines (in Spanish, in English).

Submissions are accepted until July 31 of each year for consideration for publication in that year’s issue.

Each annual issue is published before December 22.

Submissions are managed through this OJS platform, which requires users to register and/or log in. For assistance with platform usage, please refer to this Visual Guide prepared by PKP. In any case, queries related to the platform may also be directed to the journal’s contact via email. Once a manuscript has been submitted, communication will no longer be conducted via email but exclusively through the platform, using the "Add Discussion" function on the submission page.

In cases of co-authorship, it is recommended that only one author manages the submission and correspondence with the journal (either the first author or the corresponding author).

Publication in Ramas is entirely free of charge, as established by our Open Access and Fee Policy.

Upon receipt of a manuscript, the Editorial Team follows these steps and timelines (see also our Double-Blind Peer Review Policy):

1. Preliminary Evaluation: Within a maximum of 7 calendar days from submission, the Editorial Board will examine whether the manuscript complies with the journal’s thematic scope and style guidelines. If not, the Editorial Board will contact the authors to provide relevant information and recommendations.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review: Within a maximum of 37 calendar days, the manuscript will be evaluated by two reviewers (at least one external to the journal’s Scientific Committee) to assess the quality and suitability of the work for publication.

The reviewers’ recommendations will be recorded in this form and may be one of the following: publishable without changes, publishable with minor revisions, publishable with major revisions, or not publishable.

If one reviewer recommends rejection while the other recommends publication, the Editorial Board will invite a third reviewer whose decision will determine the final outcome of the peer review. Authors will be informed of this situation beforehand, in case they wish to withdraw the manuscript. The evaluation process will then be extended by an additional 30 calendar days.

3. Communication of Reviews to Authors: As soon as the double-blind peer reviews are received, the Editorial Board will send the reviewers’ reports to the authors, who must then incorporate any suggested revisions. Authors are required to provide a detailed response either in a separate report or by inserting comments directly in the manuscript. Authors will have 30 calendar days to submit the revised version along with the response report.

4. Final Decision by the Editorial Board: Within a maximum of 15 calendar days, after reviewing the revised manuscript submitted by the authors, the Editorial Board will issue a final decision regarding publication. The Board may suggest that authors address outstanding revisions or formatting issues. In such cases, the final decision timeline may be extended in 15-day increments until the manuscript is deemed final. Once the final version is approved, the acceptance certificate will be issued to the authors.
