Violence and Religions: The Case of Islam

Main Article Content

Josep Puig Montada

Abstract

Religion and violence seem to be inevitably linked to one another. The question arises whether violence inheres in Islam and to answer it, the article examines various periods of Islamic history from this perspective. The enquiry shows that there is no intrinsic connection and that contemporary Islam largely tends to dissociate religion from violence.
