A programmatic hypothesis for a biennial of contemporary art in the Mediterranean countries: Sicily and Andalusia as promoters and leaders of the initiative
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article originates from a broader study on the similarities and differences between the Castello della Zisa in Palermo and the Alcazar of the Christian Kings in Cordoba. As part of an analysis of the historical and cultural contexts that characterised the history of the two buildings and through the study of their differences, a project proposal linked to the world of culture and, specifically, contemporary art, was developed. In particular, the possibility of using the two sites as a centre for activities aimed at cultural integration in the Mediterranean basin was examined, culminating in a biennial contemporary art exhibition in Palermo, a showcase for the artistic realities of the countries involved. Particular attention was paid to the economic aspect, through cost-benefit calculations and the application of Keynesian multipliers to the entire project.
Key words: Alcázar of Cordoba, Castle of Zisa, Mediterranean Art Biennial, Keynesian multipliers.
