Abstract

This study sought to gather information on the interpreting industry in Lima, since there had not been any recent studies in the capital of Peru. Therefore, we sought to find the most demanded mode and setting, and the fee per day. A quantitative cross-sectional study was used to obtain the results. Interpretation service providers were surveyed face-to-face. It was determined that the most required mode is the simultaneous mode, there is no standard fee in the industry, and the setting with the highest percentage is the technical setting. Conversely, the legal and medical settings show the lowest percentages. With this study, we seek to show the interpreting industry and be a starting point for further research that may deepen into the rise and importance of interpreting in Peru.
