Abstract

Why does don Quijote go towards Saragossa in the Second part? This article indicates the historical and biographical background that gives sense to the menipean trip of the hidalgo. If at the beginning of the book of 1615 don Quijote follows the idea of the priest trying to go to fight against the Turk, the episode of the cave of Ruidera interpreted in the light of the prophetic romance of Gaiferos, sample that the enchantment suffered by Montesinos, Durandarte, Belerma and Dulcinea corresponds symbolically with the sitiutation of the captives in Algiers.
