Humanismo y erudición en el Polifemo comentado de García Salcedo Coronel

Abstract

Falling within the context of the humanistic tradition of the classics's explanation, as can be seen in the importance that gives to the sources and the concept of imitation, García Salcedo Coronel's Polifemo comentado participates, for his part, in a characteristic display of erudition in the XVIIth century. However, Salcedo's work, even so, doesn't represent a finished example of the new baroque erudition; the show of knowledge is sometimes restricted by the commentator's sense of moderation.
