La Poesía “frecuentada de ministros grandes”: amateurismo y poesía barroca

Abstract

In the 17th century the professionalization of the poet is set in contrast with the persistent cultivation of lyricism by noblemen and great men of the kingdom, in an attitude which combines writing with patronage. This fact is also situated in a double paradigm, social and literary, with opposing yet complementary hierarchies. Their conflation fosters the increasing prestíge of poetry, even if it implies a confiict with respect to the autonomy that characterizes the poet's performance and the nature of his writing.
