Abstract

The revision of the underlying sources in the description of Adam in the recently published Latin Anonymous Liber de ortu et obitu patriarcharum, gives rise to analyse some topics related to the biblical medieval exegesis and patristic thought: the absence of Adam's ancestors, the age of Adam when he díed and, especially. the place of his grave, whose geography reveals some legends of interest not only for its philological and theological background, but also for its transmission through the Fathers and ecclesiastic wríters, especially in the Latin tradition, as well as its influence in the iconography of the occidental art.
