Abstract

This essay analyzes the textual tradition of zarzuela Acis y Galatea by José de Cañizares (1708) in light of a so far unstudied manuscript. This case study encourages some reflections on textual contamination in musical theatre and more in general on the conduct of a neo-lachmannian editor studying such a phenomenon.
