Abstract

Each professional career requires regular training; it is essential to ensure qualified and skilled workers who can respond to society’s demands. In this case, we focus on the training of interpreters in health contexts, language professionals whose training is required to cover the linguistic and communication needs of today’s globalized world. This training should not only focus on linguistic and cultural proficiency, but also on developing the necessary technical and cognitive skills for interpreting. Furthermore, given that continuous technological advances are gradually changing the way we work, it is absolutely essential that classrooms provide students with the tools currently used to perform our interpreting tasks, thus preparing future interpreters for the challenges of the professional environment.
