About the Journal
Matemáticas, Educación y Sociedad
Matemáticas, Educación y Sociedad (MES) is edited in Córdoba (Spain) by the research group of Mathematics, Education and Society, which is part of the Andalusian Programme for Research, Development and Innovation (PAIDI).
Focus and Scope
The purpose of the journal is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge about mathematics in relation with education and society, at all levels and contexts, through the promotion and dissemination of quality research. They may not have been published previously in any format or means (graphic or electronic). MES publishes both empirical and theoretical studies and other types of collaborations on all areas of the journal.
Authors take full responsibility for the views and ideas they express in the articles published in MES. Contributors’ views and ideas are theirs alone, and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or policy of the journal.
MES accepts contributions written in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Peer Review Process
Double blind peer review and the responsibility of the reviewers
All manuscripts published in the journal Matemáticas, Educación y Sociedad will be previously peer reviewed by two external referees, in accordance with the double-blinded system. In the case of any significant discrepancy, the editorial board will request review by a third reviewer.
Double blind peer review judgments for MES Journal will be objective, and the reviewers should have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders. In this sense, the Journal confirms that the reviewers should point out relevant published work which is not cited, and that reviewed articles should be treated confidentially.
Editorial responsibilities
The Journal’s editors assume complete responsibility and authority to reject or accept an article, the editors confirm that have no conflict of interest with respect to articles they reject/accept, that they will only accept a paper when they are reasonably certain of its authenticity. If errors are found, the editors will ensure publication of a correction or retraction, preserving the anonymity of reviewers.
Open Access Process
The Editorial Board verifies the fulfilment of the criteria established by the journal and described in the Author Guidelines. Original manuscripts go through a double blind peer review.
The estimated response time is four months. This journal reserves the right to review both the wording and style of the article so as to improve its clarity and concision.
MES reviews and screens the documents received to avoid plagiarism by using computer software. The journal also examines the academic and scientific value of the paper.
Publication and Edition Ethics
Matemáticas, Educación y sociedad, adheres to the código de buenas prácticas científicas (Code of proper scientific conduct) approved by the CSIC in March 2010 and to the guidelines contemplated in the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in the event of scientific misconduct.
MES accepts contributions written in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

This journal provides open access to its content on the principle of giving the public free access to support a greater exchange of global knowledge.
