Official Statistics Literacy: a glimpse to its objective dimension in DPR Korea

Abstract
This article aims to explore the characteristics of the state statistical system in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) using the theoretical framework provided by Official Statistics Literacy (OSL), with an emphasis on its objective dimension. The concern emerges from the data shortage about the country in this statistical dimension. To accomplish this, data was collected from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) and then organized based on OSL aspects. Among the main findings, it was determined that there is a central statistical office, a connection of data with the country’s needs, and a non-isolated approach to international data. However, although Korean citizens have broad access to statistical data, it is necessary to research their skills during their interactions with this information
