Rural tourism an alternative for rural entrepreneurship in the rural communities of the State of Durango (Mexico)

Abstract
In a complex social and economic context, rural tourism emerges as a socioeconomic activity, promoting the development of entrepreneurship in rural communities. The objective of the study is to analyze rural tourism, an alternative for rural entrepreneurship in rural communities in the state of Durango. Quantitative, descriptive, explanatory, non-explanatory and correlational cohort research; Transversal scope. For the collection of information, the survey technique was used and the questionnaire as an instrument. The sample was formed as follows: for rural tourism, tourists over 18 years of age who visited the rural communities of the Sierra Madre Occidental in the state of Durango were considered, being integrated by 261 tourists, for the variable of rural entrepreneurship, it was made up of 52 enterprises located in the rural communities of the Sierra Madre Occidental in the state of Durango. The results show that rural tourism is an alternative to rural entrepreneurship, which impacts local and regional development in the state. Future lines of research are suggested, comparative studies of rural tourism with a gender perspective; the social and solidarity economy and rural tourism in rural communities; rural tourism regional development strategy.
